| Description: | Universal titanium alloy 6Al4V (ELI) is similar to type 6Al-4V in chemical analysis with the exception of Extra Low Interstitial gases (ELI). By controlling these contaminating gases the fracture toughness is greatly increased. Alloy 4956 is used to weld liquid hydrogen tankage and airframe parts requiring a high fracture toughness. | |
